Sad to Leave, Glad to Go

I Peter 3:18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

Dear Friends and Family,

It’s almost unbelievable, but we are only a month away now from our departure-for-Costa-Rica date: July 4. We are at the point where we are sad to have to say goodbye, but yet, we are so excited and glad to go.

Since we last wrote, God has continued to march us forward:

  • In March we had opportunity to return to Costa Rica—Kevin for meetings with the Language Institute, and Tia with Camille Clements, three other adult leaders, and 20 high school students to work in the interior with local pastors. At the end of that trip, we (Kevin and Tia) attended the Institute’s annual assembly and Kevin was ratified as the next director of the institute.

  • After our return to the states, we had church visits with Cornerstone Baptist, Springfield, OH, and People's Regular Baptist, Maybrook, NY, and Community Bible Church of Pocono Lake, PA. Beyond gifts provided by those churches, many of you have also provided help toward outfit and passage (O&P) as well as monthly support commitments. For O&P, we are now at 91% with a need for $1135. For monthly support, we are around 97%, but we still need to know firm numbers on insurance costs.

  • On April 23, Grace Baptist Cedarville, OH, commissioned us officially as missionaries sent to work in Costa Rica with the language institute and with Awana Lifelines prison ministry. Pastor Craig Miller spoke, as did also the director of Awana Lifelines, Mike Broyles. Bart Sheridan and Byron Shearer brought the charge to the church and to us.

  • The day before we met with Mike Broyles and the director of Awana Lifelines International, Dan Bostrom. Both of these men were part of last year’s trip to the Dominican Republic. A joyful weekend of reunions and appointment.

Now we are at the difficult part – where we are sad to leave but glad to go. Many goodbyes from church (Grace Baptist), school (Legacy Christian Academy where Tia has worked for seven years) and especially from family.

If you want to keep up online with more frequently-posted photos and blogs, we do have a website at ReillysByGrace.com. (Online edition: We have also updated our photo gallery.)

Please, of course, continue to partner with us in prayer and looking forward to . . .

  • Presenting the ministry at Calvary Baptist in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.

  • The sale of our Ohio home (currently under contract with contingencies)

  • Packing (sorting, choosing, fitting all that we really need to take 😊)!

  • With family and friends spending quality time.

With faith in Him,

Kevin and Cynthia “Tia” Reilly
